For APT Applicants

APT manage a range of properties, covering private residential, social housing and aged care facilities as part of our own in-house portfolio.

We also assist other organisations and Methodist churches around the country to successfully manage their properties.

APT is an accredited social housing provider.

This means that we can enter into a contract with Ministry of Social Development for the provision of IRRS tenancies. Any such arrangement is at the discretion of MSD, and tenancies will need to be offered in respect of properties that conform to demand for social housing by area and bedroom type. People or households wishing to apply for social housing need to be on MSD’s social housing register. More information on how to apply can be found here. Eligibility criteria at the main properties that we manage are listed below:

Aldersgate & Leigh Haven

Aldersgate Village in Mt Eden and Leigh Haven Cottages in Mt Albert serve as accommodation ideally suited for people of the retirement age needing a 1 or 2-bedroom independent living style unit, in a close-knit community setting, close to the Auckland City Area.

APT aims to foster a sense of independence and social cohesion for those living in these two villages. We promote Social Worker Support services, social occasions, and tenants’ meetings. Rental rates are kept below MBIE lower quartile rate, so we aim to give preference to those unable to afford more expensive options.

Lotofale’ia Tongan Methodist Church of Mangere (TMCM) established Matanikolo with the goal of addressing key social issues facing members of its congregation.

In partnership with SHU, APT and the TMCM, 22 houses were built: 14 x 3 bedroom, 3 x 4 bedroom and 5 x 5 bedroom houses. It is the first pacific housing project funded through the Government’s Social Housing Unit (Growth Fund) to be completed. The Target Group for the Matanikolo Housing Project is affordable and/or social housing, comprising of pacific Island families affected by the lack of adequate housing in Mangere, South Auckland.
The tenancy subcommittee may offer accommodation to tenants outside the original Target Group where;

  • Appropriate tenants within the Target Group cannot be located; or
  • The business plan or operation of the management committee envisages a different target group for the designated property.
